Is a "Buff" just a bandana with a different name? I've always kinda wondered if they're made out of a different fabric from a plain cotton bandana.
Are they ripstop? Fire resistant? Do they keep dust out better? I want to know....
Buff is just a brand name of a neck gaiter. A neck gaiter is different from a bandanna in that it's a tube. You can use it pretty much the ways that you use a bandanna, but it makes a better mask and hood and stuff. It can be made out of whatever. I think the Buff brand is microfiber or something.
It's about 12" x 12" x 4", ish. Cost like, 14 bucks on eBay. I wanted a smaller shoulder bag for when I want to just go through the woods or whatever, instead of lugging a full size messenger bag that's mostly empty. I decided to go for an Indiana Jones style bag so I could feel better about carrying what's essentially a purse. The actual Indy bags are way too expensive, so I got this one instead
I liked the gas mask style because it has the little divider in it (for separating the mask from extra filters). It's good for holding a waterbottle upright inside the bag. Plus it's got plenty of room for other things (I have a buff and pair of gloves in there right now). The buttons on the inside of the bag are a flap that covers 5 extra storage pockets, seen here:
Right pockets (left shown with a sharpie and little emergency battery glow stick, right shown with battery case for 18650/CR123 batteries)
Most of this stuff is just random stuff I shoved into it to take pictures. I'm still figuring out what I *actually* want to put in them. Fuck you, I dig my new purse.

Now, from what I understand, a smooth reflector makes for a “hot spot”, with a dimmer halo around it. The orange peel feature is supposed to even out the beam.
The first picture is the Sunwayman's beam (no orange peel), so either I'm wrong (very likely), or there's some kind of trigonometry with the reflector size, light output, or something.
I'm not sure I understand this part. Did the Sunwayman's beam throw you off? It has a much tighter spot spot than the other, which is what you were expecting, right?

And here's a link to an album of the step by step direction.
Basically, you just have to follow the direction on the pack, but because I have Christmas lights inside my bottle, I had to do a slight modification.
With the Christmas light and main lamp wired to the same terminal, the Christmas lights will always light up as soon as you plug it in, and you can turn the main lamp on and off.
So what I did was add a rocker switch to the main line that plugs into the wall, that way I can turn the entire lamp (including christmas lights) on and off with a single switch, and then switch off the main lamp if I want more ambient lighting.
So here's how to do it, if you have trouble reading directions and need a more visual approach to putting it together:
Just found out in a random search that they existed and got all ess-cited cause I instantly thought of you (in a dirty, homoerotic way, of course) since you said the regular ti was probably one of your favs from the UI.
Sorry it wasn't wrapped-it was meant for Christmas, but with bills, a parking ticket, and family presents it just became a New Years one
enjoy my Southern Belle
You got it because of the UI? FYI, this one is just a regular twisty UI. It doesn't do the "twist for low, twist more for high", it's a "turn on-mode1-turn off" style twisty.
And no, it's not scratched that I can see
