If EDCF continues to push people away, people will leave. This place is growing everyday so all is good.
That's a shame for the former, great for the latter. Things like your beads only helped enhance the sense of community, and I have a hard time figuring how they would financially detract from the other store.
I like most of the folks over there, but all it takes is a few post removals or lockouts, and good feelings evaporate.
Still saving skins for that rosewood Serenity, WD. :inlove:
Is all the weirdness over there due to the store/manufacturers butting heads? I truly didn't really notice much because I only look at pictures of EDC's and look for info on interesting knives and lights. I never really got into too many discussions because I could tell my sense of humor and love of profanity was not really welcome.

If you want me to hold it for you I will.
The way it was explained to me, the Store had opportunities to sell beads. I don't know what style they were, but I guess they were close enough to mine that the store felt uncomfortable selling them. If we leave it there, the store is pretty cool considering the effects of Craftsman and forum supporters. Unfortunately it was brought up in a manner that I perceived as the store doing me a favor.I let it go and continued participating. The strange thing was, the store was selling alien head and unusual skull beads during that time anyway.
Things came to a head again, when another forum member asked me about the Craftsman badge and I encouraged him to get one. He got it, and there was a brief convo between a mod and I about set up. Not long after I get another PM from the store asking that I not encourage members to get Craftsman badges. Turns out the member I encouraged to get the badge also got a PM asking the same.
This was the point (along with the many many, the forum will have to close notices) when I seriously considered leaving. Adding to the fact that mixed in all this, I find out other members that I had grown fond of were feeling put off and it made the decision easier.
I'm thankful for EDCF. The members there raised me up and made me believe. I'll miss that place, but I won't miss the store or the sky is falling announcements. It's an amicable divorce from my perspective.
It's also very revealing that now that I'm free I hear from people who reached the same decision months or years earlier. From several forums. MT.o comes to mind as the first time I recall someone making jest of having to "close down the forum".

The best thing about any online community is the people posting. I started to notice rad people leaving. The best thing a moderating staff can do is be invisible in their moderations and avid in their normal participation. That ratio did start to get weird.

You're a lot cooler over here. Like you came out of your cocoon. You're a butterfly now.

^ Thank you. My dream has always been to lightly sit on a dog's nose. Alas, after smothering my fourth dog, I had to admit it was never going to happen.
I joined the other place in Feb and it seemed friendly but this place has a much freer feel to it, and I'm not knee deep in profanity or nude women (here or IRL). I'm sure new arrivals will find this place welcoming.

Who's that handsome devil waving in the background!?
Speaking of handsome devils, Frog decided to be photographed.
Notice the ball of fur. He decided to hop off the table real quick and put the beat down on the kitty cats.
Trying to make a dramatic escape. "Missed it byyy that much."
