Anyone have any experience or recommendations? I'll be working with 8mm SS rings.

I've looked at them a few times on eBay and they can be had for 5-20 bucks. You get what you pay for (tools are like that) so I would recommend Xuron brand. I have quite a few of their small tools. They are very high precision and the grips are comfortable.

I use a staple remover in a pinch, but own a metal-handled one (forget the make). They work okay.. when I can find them.
The Xuron one was recommended but I already had the metal one at that point. Which I still can't find to check. It worked good for the really small rings. Larger ones I could make do with the staple remover.

8mm are pretty tough and I may be doing hundreds. The pliers would be very handy. I think I'll try the Xuron.
