I have been looking at a couple days for knives from CRKT, the Sakimori and the Otanashi noh Ken. Am I crazy for liking them? Are they practical for FBC (Fat Boy Carry)? They just trip my trigger.
Nuts? I don't think so. Both look cool imo. I like the ninja-y feel.
Only thing that came to mind is on the folder.....I have hated aus 8 each time I've had it. Its actually a deterrent for me. Cool design thigh. Mini folding ninja assassin sword
I'm probably not the right guy to answer this since I just paid over 200 euro's for a Spyderco Bushcraft, but I do like the looks of that Sakimori & O1 is a pretty tough steel if you plan on beating it up (especially at a 0,24"). It holds a really nice edge too. It is on the large & heavy side for (urban) EDC though, at least imo. How would you be carrying it?
150$ for a folder in AUS8 does sound a bit ridiculous to me, but I guess it could still be usable if it has a proper heat-treatment.
edit: after thinking about it some more I'm afraid that the thickness of that Sakimori makes it a not so usable blade. It'll most likely suck as a slicer. It would be a great thickness for a chopper perhaps, but the blade shape & size are far from ideal for that. It might make a good sharp pry-bar but otherwise I can't see much use for it to be honest. What would you be using it for?

Crap, now I feel I kinda robbed myself of a chance on some nice close up shots of a pretty knife
So I figured I'd google some pics of it & ran in to this (not fantastic) vid:
I guess you could make it work as a heavy-duty bushcraft knife if you really wanted too. Do they make a longer version of it too? I still owe myself a nice katana
