On the Dr. Bronners website, it lists all the uses and toothpaste is one. But, you don't want to use the tea tree one as the taste is nasty. Yep, tried it, too. lisa.drbronner.com/?p=1127
I've been using Dr.Bronners for a few years now. Great stuff. A little goes a LONG ways. I use it for personally cleaning to washing dishes. Has 18 uses or so according to bottle. And its safe for the EARTH.
I've used the peppermint Dr. Bronners to brush my teeth just to see how it tastes. It's not a strong mint, but not bad.
Sound like I'm gonna have to try it out then. It seems like they make more than one product though, could you (Diggs) specify which one you're referring to?
Peppermint. I've used a few others but peppermint is the one I find most useful. In a pinch you could use in dishwasher, only two drops and baking soda. Or for laundry both in the outdoors or washing machine. As soap for personal cleaning your going to get a bit of a warm sensation on the sensitive parts ;). Sent from my DROID RAZR HD using proboards

That's why I like it...

I got some more goodies, or rather, more weight to put in my pack
I decided to go with the Katadyn Hiker Pro instead of the more durable Katadyn pocket just to save some weight. If this adventure turns out to be a success I can always upgrade to the Pocket later for a more extensive stay out there.
& I got some of the Dr. Bonner soap that was recommended to me as well, but I went with the almond 'flavor' instead of the highly popular tingling-peppermint. I do like peppermint occasionally, but the thought of everything smelling like it all the time just puts me off. I have yet to test it though, I keep forgetting it so far. Will report back asap

It appears to be one of the most popular filters out there, but I must admit it feels and looks awfully plasticy to me...I hope I can keep it in one piece when packed in my bag with the rest of my gear, I'm very worried about breaking that little nipple for the intake hose..
Luckily I have that filter for my water-bladder as a back up
I'm still thinking of a way to protect it somehow though, I might have to carve it a sheath of some sort

EPIC!! well if anyone could "carve" out a sheath for it ...it'd be you...Norse bought a bag I'll ask which one...keeps it nice tight and clean...with separate pockets for hoses...in and out...cuz who would wanna mix those up
It's lighter than I thought it would be at 0,5LBS, but are you positive the Hiker Pro fits in there? Mine is about the same diameter as my one liter/32oz Nalgene bottle, but that's not counting the protruding inlet-nipple.
I also got some more stuff today:
- A detailed map of the area I going to (they send me the wrong one though, this one is in Swedish while I ordered the English version so I'm going to have it exchanged). - A book to help me identify wild edibles, or more importantly, their poisonous look-a-likes. - Spyderco double-stuff.
I already had the Falkniven DC4, but I decided to go with the Double-Stuff instead for two reasons:
- The DC4 was to course for my likings (I had the newer DC4, not the more refined older model), I prefer a finer edge than it can give me. - To save weight. The double stuff is a little heavier than the DC4 but it's rough leather pouch lends itself as a pretty decent strop as well, so it also replaces my fav stropping paddle. This saves me about a 150 grams or 5oz.
