I love my vertx cargo shorts and pants, I just bought a pair of Tad RS 10 Cargo pants! 30X30 from most places fit me good but from tads I need more like a 28X30 they run a bit large.
... maybe someone could point me to a brand that makes cargo stuff that doesnt look like old man clothes or cheap walmart crap? because i would buy them
Fristads-kansas? I dunno if you can get them over in the states... They make a bunch of "casual" carpenters/electricians pants ;) As for quality, my granddad has a few pairs overalls that are older than me :p
make sure i get this right: someone doesnt want 'old man clothes' and you decide, with all of your wisdom, to recommend stuff that your granddad has been wearing for decades. yeah that makes sense....
I know that this is the minority view, but I find that cargo style pants/shorts are no better for EDCing than regular "5 pocket" jeans.
I own many pairs from 5.11. LAPG, Tru-Spec, and Uncle Sam. I have always found cargo pockets to be pretty useless. Anything more than a bandana in there and you are asking for trouble. Something substantial in a cargo pocket will swing like pendulum if you ever have to move in a hurry and something bulky gets in the way and bumps stuff. Perhaps worse of all, the forward facing rear pleat on many will catch and snag just about every cabinet pull you pass. I've ripped more than one pocket open that way.
That's why, for not the first time in public, I will declare the carpenter style pant the most useful pant for EDCing! Unlike cargos, its extra pockets are actually useful and contain/ restrain their items in a manner that allows you to hustle through an intersection with some dignity. Plus, you can't overload them.
You can easily carry a substantial flashlight (P60 in my case) on one side and a full size MT in the other and go about your day as if you are carrying nothing.
Death to cargos! Viva la carpenter pants!
Who's with me?
While I respect your opinion Sir, I must respectfully disagree and suggest you try Duluth trading Company's Flex Firehouse Cargo pants. They are comfy and the pockets well thought out. Just my opinion. Carry on. :-)

Do these look like "granddad pants"?
My grandpa remark was about quality, not style.

i pretty much stopped buying cargos cause i just didnt use the pockets as mentioned - if you put a lot in there they just swing way too much and since im not using it, its just wasted weight

I'd never be able to wear a pair, I'd just end up carrying too much

My job I just can't wear jeans on friday when we have our auction and I am working inside part of the time. They don't really care either way if I wear actual suit pants or if I wear my Vertx pants. They look much dressier than my Tad gear pants at least.

I had to go a wedding the other day. Sorta dressed up. I didn't wear cargo pants. It was fucking miserable. I need all my pockets. In fact, the only pocket that's empty is my LR. Just in case a want a quick squeeze.
I do like the way the Carhartt's look though.

Ordered some LA Police Gear mil-spec BDUs and a couple pair of Condor Tactical pants. Both have only been worn this week. The LAPG ones are good, not great. A little short, but I am 6'8". The Condors are better. Got them unhemmed so they fit better in length. Will buy more pairs of them. They have a nice pocket arrangement. Each cargo pocket has two internal organizers. There is a dedicated wallet/cell phone pocket above each slant pocket with a velcro closure. And a dedicated knife pocket on the RH side. Only odd thing is the smaller cargo pocket on the calf of each leg. Big enough to fit a composition notebook or an iPhone. That is a little different. But, they are approved for work, so I will wear them.
I love my cargos. My regular ones are worn in cargo from old navy. Love them and I dont mind stuff in my pockets, I have a good system so stuff doesnt rattle around. In just my cargos pockets I carry a tk-15, mini survival tin, 2 pencils, 1 pen, a spaceblanket, backup 18650, surgical tubing, gum, and chapstick. Cant imagine not having them.
