Is there a pocket clip option? I don't remember any talk about that
Hey Tiller...
A pocket clip is a thought. I would need to look around some knife supply places to see if there's one that would work (look right) or one that I could mod.
I've been wanting to do this for awhile and finally got into it a little this morning.
This is a mod/pimp job for a 91mm SAK. I have 1/32" thick orange G10 and some thin landscape Ziricote wood. A SAK scale is approx 3.37mm thick. My combination of G10 and wood comes out to 3.49mm thick... within range.
The project is for me... a proof to myself that I can do it.
My work (for now) is done on the blades. All's left is to give them a bath in denatured alcohol and send them off to Peter's for heat treat (HRC 60) and bead blasting for the ones that get acid wash. I have two blades that will be held in reserve (not worked on). There's also couple that I rejected (really rough shape) that I'll send to Max... see what he can do with them.
Average work time per blade (by hand, files and sandpaper) was 30 hours each, adding 6 hours for the three blades that I did the jimping on the spines... 396 hours of labor!
How about I gift a custom bead to each contributor?
California Redwood Burl with Ti,Cu or brass ends. 275 or 550 cord bore size.
As I'm down to getting the last blade done (starting it today) I tried my hand at some jimping. This is the spot your thumb would rest with the blade in the open position. Done by hand with diamond coated files...triangular shape to get the cut started, then switched to a 0.050" diameter round file.

Willy, In the beginning, I only wanted to make a few of them. At times, my patience with this project runs thin... doing the same thing over and over.
When you say grinder, do you mean like an HF special? Grinding wheel? Cause I've been working nights for a while pullin in extra dough. If it would help you along, maybe we set something up.
This would be the shit... just need 300 bucks.
