My love for Ray Laconico's knives approaches something inappropriate.
And I break things that I love.
So, when my feelings for his knives would not go away, I decided to break them, figuratively, by trying to copy them.
I started playing with blades from various production knives, to see if I could find something that resembles the blade on Ray's work.
I figured I would post what I came up with, and let you fucktards decide for yourselves.
First up is the second generation of the Laconico Blast.
Which ends up being very similar to a ZT from the 05XX series, to the point where a different set of scales, and a little modification to the flipper, makes for a passable copy.
Having dispelled that, I started working on the Jasmine.
The very top drawing is the Jasmine flipper, scaled down to a 2.5" blade. I had an awful time copying this (couldn't do it at all, in fact), but the non-flipper Jasmine, and the "Slim EDC", copied nicely.
At the bottom of the "Blast" drawings is a modified version of the Cold Steel Holdout III. At the bottom of the second drawing is a Jasmine doppelganger based on Cold Steel's Mini-Recon 1.
The others are labeled.
This whole exercise has gone a long way toward reducing my desire for some very expensive knives. I was reasonably happy with what I came up with, though, and decided to share.
