20 is a good all around angle in my opinion. 25 if I know it is going to get abused and not need to be razor sharp. 15 if I want it razor sharp and know that the edge will only be cutting stuff without knots or metal or maybe shaving with it.

Yeah, those numbers and criterias sound just right to me as well, although it also depends on the steel & grinds a bit. My scandi grind blades seem to use an even steeper angle, maybe 12 degrees even, but the one in o1 seems to hold an edge forever
I still can't believe it took me until I was 40 to discover this grind, it cuts wood so effortlessly! I sorta feel I've been holding myself back all these years I've wasted on more common grinds.
Just pick up a cheap Mora to try it out, they're only ten to 15 bucks or so. They look like crap (imo), but they're great knives and probably impossible to beat buck for buck.
Or since you're a craftsman (and I believe you own a lathe) you could also pick up a Laurin blade for 12 bucks an turn a nice handle for it yourself perhaps.
Have a lathe. I have looked at progression tempered puuko kits for a while. Just never got one to make. Got too many projects gathering dust at the moment. A skinning knife, tanto knife, several pens, clock, and a couple more whistles.
Ah, in that case perhaps someone should order one made by you instead so you'll have no excuse not to finish it within a decent time frame...got any places to harvest birch-bark from in your area perhaps..?
I'm just very curious about the feel of the stacked birch bark, I keep reading great things about it. But that will have to wait till a later time I guess, unless I run in to a nice one when I'm in Scandinavia of course.
I paid a little more for my Wilder Necker. I had him ad some jimping & acid etching & something else I can't remember right now. I believe it was 85 or 95$ or so.
