Hola, friends! :) I was asked to take a peek at the thread.
Before I elaborate on my own tin (I was actually gonna take lotsa shots of different tins I have, but got sick), please do check out my blog post (here) where you'll find a list of all the goodies you can place inside Altoid sized tins. :) Pick and choose to your hearts desires and share your creations here.
It's still got some cleaning up to do. But it'll definitely get you started or give you ideas on what you can add to your current tins. :)
Like this. Loads of stuff on instructables.com, I particularly like the tin full of mints which someone posted. I love these because they allow you to carry what I consider to be extreme stuff without having to use a huge backpack. Having said that, I don't have one so maybe I should get my finger out and build one! Using the beautiful tin I got from the Moosh-meister's GAW!
Still thinking about it. Life got in the way, tho'. However.... Fish hooks. I've always been a little dubious. I can only see them being used in a deadfall style trap 'cos I don't think you'll want to be sitting beside a river waiting for a bite in a survival situation. I would stuff a small net in my gear to use while you go off a do something else, like make shelter. Any thoughts on this? Also, in one of the many lists for tins, someone mentioned using a metal button. Useful for both kit repair and as a fishing weight. I'm always impressed with multi purpose things. (Until you start fishing and your pants fall down!)
My youngest adopted one of my empty pipe tobacco tins for an pocket kit. Little bigger than an Altoids and the lid comes completely off. I'll have to find it and snap a picture. Orlik Golden Sliced if you are curious. :)
I have a few tins in my TB Co-Pilot, and only one of them is an Altoids one. In there is only AAAs, fountain pen cartridges and a loksak where my phone fits in (to place there if I’m caught in heavy rain or something like this). You didn’t ask for the contents of non-Altoids, so I’ll not elaborate. :p ;)
