You are far too kind man, no need to send anything unless it's scraps. You can send anything you want and I will make some use out of it (I will try at least). But seriously, no need to send me things :)
I forgot the refills, so they are coming. I'll toss in some cocobolo to make it worth my postage. I can get several types of woods locally. Kauri being one. I'll have to look and see what else they have.

Bolivian Rosewood is a favorite. Koa, but I generally source that through eBay. How about snakewood? Might need to get that through eBay too.
I'd stay away from Palm. It's very hard, and has strands instead of wood fibers.
Oh oh, another cool one, though understated is Burmese Blackwood. Similar in color to Wenge, but a smoother fiber. It's what I made Gus Fring out of.

I'll watch for Koa. They have snakewood in house. Pretty sure koa and rosewood, also. Snakewood might only be in pen blanks, though. I'll check. Going this afternoon. They have redheart in scale thick sheets already. Was thinking of doing a set of SAK scales in redheart myself. Or purpleheart for the purple freaks here.

There is Koa (Woodcraft), then there is holy shit that's cool (eBay). You might be able to get away will some cool snake wood at woodcraft. I've never worked with snake wood, but every time I see it, I think it's cool.

If you look at the larger pieces of lumber there are some very interesting pieces of koa and other varieties. The pen blanks are kind of boring usually. Started ordering more off various websites. I need a bandsaw and I can start cutting my own out of larger blocks. Table saw wastes way too much.

So let me wrap my head around this. If you don't get a scale precut, you take it to a buddy with a bandsaw and he cuts it to the correct thickness? Assuming you use the original flat side of the piece as the knife side, is the cut from the band saw relatively flat? If you wanted, could you use the band saw cut side as the knife side?
I'm thinking about, maybe, getting a band saw. The idea first came up when looking to do peel ply G10. The peel ply forces you to trim on the knife side of the scale and I'm curious if a band saw can cut flat enough.

Yes, he cuts it to whatever thickness I want. I tried doing this with some other people but hobby bandsaws suck, the saws themselves are either too thick or just slanted in some direction, so the pieces come out uneven as fuck. The cut from the bandsaw is perfectly flat, I check every time before gluing, otherwise a whole lotta mess can ensue. In fact, I don't think it ever happened that I had a piece from a bandsaw that wasn't completely flat. Results may vary, I can't claim this is the best possible solution, I think a lot of it depends on the bandsaw you have and your own experience

Like a table saw circular saw? I used a compound miter saw for the cocobolo scales, but I very limited control with that. I was hoping a band saw would work. I'm concerned the band would flex since it's so thin. A circular saw is much more thick.

Yep, table circular saw. 'scuse me for confusing my terminology, English is not my mother tongue and I'm far more experienced with weird sexual slang than I am with machinery of all sorts. Yes, seems to me like the bandsaw might flex and ruin an expensive piece of wood. I understand that circular saws are very expensive, but if you can also find someone to hook you up it would make things a lot easier

I'm having trouble visualizing the table saw being refined enough to handle small pieces. If you gave him a scale like the slab of cocobolo, would he be able to trim it?
