My kids have been watching a channel on YouTube about making PVC bows. All kinds. From simply bending the pipe and tying on a string to heating and forming, to takedown bows. Doesn't show a bow scale to get draw weights, but, gives an approximate weight. Did a 80 lb bow from 1 1/4" pipe.
So, a little convincing and begging, I went and bought a length of pipe and attempted my first one.
Just using paracord for the string for the moment.
Want to try more of a horse bow style next. Use it for bowfishing for carp.
I've done other stuff out of PVC. Chairs, bird feeders, and some above ground sprinklers. Just never a bow. Next one I think I will put fiberglass rods in for more draw strength. Unless I opt to go with the horse bow style. The rods add quite a bit of power and durability to the PVC. Seen plans for a take down PVC bow that looked fun to build.
