V11R has a cool as Ti button. Some people hate it, fuck them. Couple things though. V11R requires click on/off and then an adjustment. The ring will not stay in place. If you had it to low you better fucking make sure it's still on low before you turn it on. Nice light overall though.
M11R, no button. Fuck that button. It's off, you twist a little, it's on, a little more, a little brighter. Your fingers get trained to the amount of twist required for each level. There is a subtle detent that warns you when you're getting to the next level.
Both rings have shitty grease. It will get loose over time and you'll have to re-grease. That can be a pain in the ass if you don't know what to do. I know what to do, so if you go down this road, don't piss me off.
There is a hidden strobe in the M11R that is easy to access, but not a nuisance.
The V11R I owned for a weak maybe too. The M11R is heading into a year maybe? Can't remember.
RCR123 come in low voltage like a normal CR123. That is 3.0V. If you go with a higher voltage RCR123, like the 4.2V, the light with be brighter overall. SWM does a good job with both. Personally I use the RCR123 3.0V. It the Tenergy Green battery.
SWM does make a AA extender. And SWM lights are interchangeable. You can swap heads and bodies.

And do you have to worry about keeping it on bright too long with these batteries? I read some lights shouldn't be set on high for more than a few minutes with rechargeable batteries because the can overheat. Or is that just if you get the higher 4.2 Volts?

You get overheating because of the lumen output. I think the V11R is 210 and the M11R is 180 or something like that. Double check. Regardless of battery they will get hot. The 4.2V will jump the V11R to like 500 so the 4.2 are worse.
There are some lumen junkies out there. I'm not one. You get over 100 lumen and you're fucking bright. I had a Jetbeam BC10 rated to 270. I got the V11R with a 4.2v for 500 and there was only a very VERY small difference.

These small lights are made for flooding your near surroundings with light, but have a little bit of throwyness. They have a small diameter reflector with orange peel structure. If they had no real reflector like a Fenix E01 they’d flood even more, if they had a deep large smooth reflector they would reach more far.*
I've bought many lights since I started visiting EDC-forums but the S10 & Quantum DD are the only keepers for me, awesome little lights those are.
The black alu S10 is a little brighter then the titanium ones and as a result of that I find the two lower modes a bit more usable, but I prefer the (neutral-ish) tint of the ti version more so that's the one I use most.

I just picked up a sunwayman M10r in trade and couldnt be happier. A little bigger than my S10 but better throw and i like the UI. Tail clicky, momentary on if not clicked, adjustment through ring. Cant go wrong in my limited experience.
since i've been without my flashlight for a while now and i'm missing it, i was wondering any recommendations for a good pocket sized light that is easy to carry ? if anyone wants to trade something i can give knives or pocket tools to a value up to 60$

Marko, I'm going to give you some awesome advice.
For good EDC I like a light with low-low (for middle of the night creeping) and working medium (that won't reflect light back and blind my handsome ass) and a high for messing with the fox out back.
For $60 you have a shit ton of options. My preference is Sunwayman, because they look nice and have the elements I want. Fuck 4 sevens and Preon. I don't like the way their names sound.
The Sunwayman M11R is the standard by which all lights should be gauged. All three settings, compact single CR123 battery, compact, simple user interface (UI).
Other lights that I've used are the Jetbeam BC10 (no low light, otherwise great) Jetbeam PC10 (run away, run far far away) Sunwayman V11R. First I have to click it on, then I have to dial it in. Too much effort. Olight S10. Shittiest clip ever invented and they still haven't corrected it so fuck Olight and their mom right in the butt. Dad too. Otherwise an okay light. Clicky's are slow to maneuver over the twisty of the M11R.
If you're one of the flashlight junkies who give a fuck about throw/flood and lumen output and custom UI and all that shit, all I can say is EAD.
