I've seen a couple vids before on Mr Proenneke and the first thing I said was "That's a fuckin' man, right there!" I would have been bear food in the first two weeks
Haha, luckily the bears & wolfs in Sweden are very shy, or at least that's what I was told. People there don't even use those bear-proof containers for their food when hiking/camping.
I am particularly happy about this because I won't be able to carry a riffle on my adventure, moose & wild boars still worry me somewhat though

I'm not sure how Swedish customs will respond if I cross the border with one of those
But a spear will be the first thing I'll make once I'll leave civilization behind me. I'm still looking for a lightweight skeletonized knife I can use for this purpose, but I don't want to spend too much on it. I was looking at the Gerber paracord knife to use as a spearpoint, but it's a little on the short side me thinks.

Sog actually makes a knife to be used as a spear. Cant remember the model, they have it at my walmart.

I think you're referring to this one?
It's a bit small for it's weight in terms of blade length, but it could work & I do like the price. I'll do a little more research first, thanks for the tip!

i used to watch this dude all the time on tv! they would advertise his videos to buy, but the commercial was freakin hours long so you saw most of it. my favorite parts were showing him making his plates, bowls, and the wood door with hinges and shit. that was pretty awesome. i admire that dude. i wanted to visit the cabin when i went to alaska last year but my mom said no
