Okay tell me now. You make the RW bead. Use the ID and turn the SS with a lip to stick in the RW?

I went at kind of primitive due to a lack of wood working tools...
I have some 10mm thick Rosewood knife scale sized blanks. I drilled a 1/4" hole and rough cut a small square. Turned some 3/8" o.d. stainless rod to 1/4" on the end, bored it 3/16". Cut the grooves, part it off. Do that twice. Ca glue the stainless ends in the Rosewood block. Bust out the Dremel tool with a sanding drum and go to work making the block round to match the stainless. Once I got it close I put a piece of 3/16" rod (oversized) in the lathe. Slip the "bead" on the rod and spin it, sanding it to final size to match up with the stainless ends.
Labor intensive but that allows me to put my mojo on the final product

I have Flame Box Elder (the wood above that looks like it's bleeding), Curly Hawaiian Koa, and some Brazilian Curly Purpleheart all due in within the next week or so.
Photobucket was down for maint. so I had to post the picture as an attachment >

Along with the tanto neck knife I got today from iggy there was a small slab of the same Dymondwood used for the scales. I made one of the new type bead from a piece.
This picture is showing the best side of the bead. Sadly, the coloration does not go all the way around. It might look better with copper ends.
This is the flame box elder on a bead. The picture kind of looks like cedar but it's a pink red color vice orange red. Hard to get a good photo with the wood being raw, sanded to 1000 grit.
When I do the fob in the same wood it will make your eyes pop!
