Have a Zebra F402 (think I got it in a SS here a few years ago)...GREAT PEN. EXCEPT... that dang plastic insert, which is, and has been, stripped.
Do yall know of any easy fix to this? I know its not an overly expensive pen (like five bucks), but I'd hate to toss it just cause of one little thing. Maybe there is a simple, cheap solution to this?
So, the end you use to replace the ink cartridge. Not sure how to repair that one. I'd suggest finding a 701 as an upgrade. Then, use the 402 as a donor for a couple parts to make the 701 almost all metal. There are a ton of videos on the Tube that show how. I've done it a few times myself.

Damndest thing happened today. Im fed up with this pen...well, specifically the plastic insert that the end cap/opening of pen screws on to. I thought, "Hmmm I wonder if IT is threaded into the metal body...maybe I can take it out and then screw the cap directly to the body?"
So I got out my trusty Skeletool CX which Ive been carrying this week and got to twisting on this plastic body with the pliers. First I put the tip of the pliers into the the threaded opening of the plastic and tried pulling. Tried twisting. Nothing.
Then I clamped down near the base of the plastic body and started doing the same. No dice.
Damn.
Well I HAVE to do this work for school and the other cheap pen I had in my bag crapped out on me, and the zebra refill wont fit into the other one, too short. So I put it all back together and thought, "i'll just keep retightening as it strips more and more" But then it didnt. Used it a few minutes and no issues. I think when I had the pliers on the inside and gripping really hard that maybe it added a bit of depth to the threads or something cause now its holding very well!
