Actually, I read that not too long ago as I actually do a lot of reading here so I can feel young like you kids. Anyway, I'd like to cross that off of my bucket list too someday, but my wife won't let me date, so...
This is a crappy little video of a recent hike with my FIL and wife on the PA side of the Delaware River near a pale the Wallpack bend. Besides maybe Tiller- and that's a BIG maybe- I doubt any of y'all know where that is.
More interesting that the hiking footage is the bag dump I make my FIL do since, as you will see, he doesn't understand "EDC" the way we do. To him, it's just stuff he carries on his almost daily walks in the woods.
I'm curious, Did he find the Maxpedition bag through his own searching? Or did you recommend it?
I already had two of them when he picked that up, so he was aware that that sort of bag existed.
He would often ask questions about my bags. Well, that's not true, he mostly busted my balls about carrying a purse, but secretly confided in my wife about liking it. We decided to get him one for Christmas four or fives years ago and he takes it hiking and hunting all the time.
As far as "searching" goes, he can hardly use a computer. If he needs something done, my wife usually helps him.

After thinking about the answer for almost a year...
, not really. Sorry Kilroy, I somehow missed this when you posted it. My bad.
The answer to your question is "Yes and no". He did pick it out himself, but he had been admiring the ones I own for quite a while prior to asking for one of his own for Christmas.
