I got a cool belt buckle. So I need to get a snap on belt. I also had to modify the belt buckle because the clasp portion stuck out way too far. The clasp is the piece that attaches to the belt.
Here is a pic with the clasp sticking out (wire on right side).
Here it is modified so it's tucked in behind the buckle.
The I bought a pre-cut belt blank. It was pretty shitty quality. The snaps were weak and were beginning to tear through the leather.
It was also shaved really thin at the tip. I didn't like it.
So I got an un modded belt blank and assorted gear.
Opted for Chicago screws instead of snaps.
Here's the shitty belt keeper. You can't really see this part when complete so I kept it.
1-1/2" Full Grain leather.
Slicker wheel for slicking the edge smooth.
Dye and sealant.
Compared it to my beater Genuine garbage belt.
Used the belt grinder to round the edges. It's extremely effective.
Thinned out the folding area. Not too much though.
The punch was a POS so I drilled the holes. It worked fine.
Test fit the belt and pushed the area where it fit. The I marked it for my middle hole.
Here's a pic of the junk punch. It didn't start crooked. Avoid this garbage and get a normal punch. 3
Goofy ass holes from the goofy ass punch. Ended up drilling them.
Made a tip sketch.
Wanted to use the TC in the construction so I circumcised the tip of the belt.
Rounded the edges again with the grinder.
Beveled the edges. This was a lot easier than I thought.
Test fit.
Dying process.
This went well too.
Money shot.
The worst part was "slicking" the edges of the belt. The slicker sucked and it took a long time.
Now I have to tuck my shirts in. I really should have thought this through.
