Roy, you are a diehard 1911 fan. I would carry something you are very familiar with. A big guy like you can conceal a full sized 1911 easily. I know I can. And you are almost as tall as me. And, since you like a vest during cooler weather, it would make it even easier to conceal. Summer would be a little harder, but, just keep your shirt untucked and you'll be golden.
Ive thought about it.. Specifically buying my fathers Dan Wesson PM9. But, Id like something smaller and lighter.
The only problem with smaller and lighter with bear paws like ours is, that the smaller, lighter pistols are harder to get a solid grip on and control.

Thats one of the reasons I was seriously considering the S&W model 32.
I'll have to look into some IWB and experiment with full size 1911's.

Look at an Officer's model. Shorter barrel. Still .45ACP
The IWB holster company I like closed it's doors recently. Which is sad, they made good stuff fairly cheaply. I could have gotten an IWB leather/kydex holster for about $60 shipped

Hobbies: Sleep, camp, beer... often combined, though not usually in that order. Favorite Beer: Dunno, whatever I have recently made is usually my favorite.
I've been really happy with my Kahr CW9. It's a no frills gun, but I've been more than pleased with it. Easy to conceal and light enough to go unnoticed most of the day.
I have seen a Kahr PM-9 jam about 4 times while firing one magazine. I have seem them repeatedly fail, even when all sorts of ammunition was tried out. I wouldn't recommend using this brand of firearm to protect your life. Just me.
I'm not saying you're wrong, but I've put over 1200 rounds through mine and havent had any issues. I've seen a glock do the same thing before.

My current favorite. It seems like a really good mid ground between 1911 and M&P DA/SA Which I like for carrying, External safety which isnt really a negative or positive for me. My only concern is being a compact frame, it might be a tad bit too small for my hands. . Plus I can fit this bad boy on it, when SF finally comes out with it!
