The Amsler made it through security? With a blade on it?
Yup! True life story!!! If I had to guess, it's because the blade is square, it doesn't look like a knife and seeing it through and xray and holding it in hand, it looks like a solid tool, to most folks I guess. Now, to be fair, this wasn't the airport. My wife is Canadian with permanent residency only so we have to go to interviews every now and then. Also, even though I'm out of the Army I still gots friends and I do live next to Bragg so most of my friends are SpecOPs... NO BIG DEAL! (I see you rolling your eyes!)
I really like it! I get compliments on it all the time. Nobody has any idea what it is. People think it's some sort of modern art or something. I've gone through 2 separate security checkpoints with that set up. Only at one did they do anything... The guard picked it up and asked me what the Amsler was and then handed my keys to me saying cool! Anyway, it's very comfortable especially for being square. It also works very well as a dangler. Obviously its ginormous compared to regular danglers but it actually disappears pretty good in the pocket and there's no chance that its coming out. On the belt loop it is very secure and again, looks cool!
I did talk to Norman at Nuko Tools about getting one that is anodized with chamfered edges and what not but he doesn't have all the stuff yet for that. He is working on a special one for me.

I have loads and loads of bottle openers but 99.9% of the time I just use my wedding ring. But that's no fun for an EDC forum! So without further a do... All of my super cool bottle openers!

I used to rock a carabiner... Well, an Ahhhh or some shit. I still have it but it holds other shit like Ti toothpicks and nail clippers and what not. Pic...
Now I rock a dangler! Not just any dangler though!!! A, "I will fuck your face up really bad and probably my fingers a little!" Nuko Tools ACDT!!! Pic...
Sweet knife, congrats bro. Id go with the tumbled 3V, but where are you getting it? It looks sold out on the site to me, it always looks sold out on the site LMAO. And i dont see the 20CV option listed either???
Thanks! I'm getting it to add to my collection but more importantly because it's the one I've always wanted but keep missing the opportunity.
The GSO 5.1s are sold out. The website says They'll be available middle of March but last week it said middle of February. So far, it has been my experience that the knives go on sale around 2-4 weeks after the posted date! Guy hasn't made a 5.1 with the CPM 20CV yet but he's in love with that stainless steel and has mentioned on his FB page that he's going to offer the 5.1 in the 20CV. I expect it will be like what he did around Christmas time where they posted about 20 4.1s in 20CV up for sale and then offered the regular 3V. Anyway, to probably better answer your first question, I just want a badass camping, bushcrafting knife. I also really like finger choils. I don't mind a little maintenance here and there but I'm a big fan of convenience. I read a bunch of articles talking about the 3V pitting and what not so I was a bit wary and made my mind up to get the 20CV. Then Guy released this video the other day and made me feel all warm and fuzzy.
That withstanding, I think I still like the 20CV more than the 3V but I'm not sure. Especially when Survive now has a SIIIIICK silver coating!!! :inlove:
Most recent pic of the family. Two GSO 7/7s, both in 3V, one with a graphite coating and my 4.1 in CPM 20CV.
