Man it's a great knife. If I could only have two knives, it'd be the Southard and the Techno. PM2 is super sweet, but Spyderco just nailed these two adaptations. They are unique and perfectly executed.
Yeah the only thing I hated about the Southard was the pocket clip and the fact that the tip could jab you if your not careful pulling it out of your pocket. I loved the knife and would have gotten a deep cary pocket clip for it but I got a trade offer I couldn't refuse after he haggled with me for 2 days .
I actually like the pocket clip, though I know I'm in the minority. The Koa Southard pictured above has a slightly re-profiled blade; it's a tad shorter and no more finger-poking. I have a production one too and am leaving that one alone (although Tony at Everyday Commentary has it right now for a review).
great pics man, im gonna have to fool around with a makeshift lightbox
usually, when i shoot gear indoors im working with a tripod and longer exposures. My camera has oldschool electronics and anything above about 400 iso gets grainy. at 800 its just looks like garbage, unless you are making a vintage style shot.... (nikon d200)
whats your camera setup for these shots? looks like you using a 50/1.8 on several of the shots
OK, this thread has been dead for awhile. Here's my idea: this is going to be a big week for me as I am expecting some round-this-shit-out items. So, since they will come throughout the week, I will update as my EDC gets closer to what I have in mind: A small, portable, collection of stuff I can easily have on me to meet my normal expected needs, with a slight amount of rad-factor, and all matching a general color scheme (black, metallic, and grey).
Here's the basic EDC:
Watch is always this Skagen. I am not a watch nut; I want something I can ignore that is easy to read. The Skagen is super thin and light (it's titanium). Easy. Plus, it was an anniversary gift after year one.
Wallet: cheap, nylon, black, thin. I don't give a flying fuck about a fancy wallet. I carry it in the front pocket because otherwise I destroy credit cards with my ass.
Keys: I have had a big keychain with all sorts of shit on it. Man-jewlery is fine, but it's a bitch to carry. So this is what I am down to -- Keys, NME Ti bottle opener, Quantum DD, cord for easy-grab (and yeah: I love my Koa villain, but it might get put in a drawer since it's the only item not matching the color scheme).
Knife: I had a big collection of Spydies. It was fun to cycle through, but I just ended up carrying the two I liked most, so why have extra? These two are my ideal knives, so this is what I have. The SNG is great: it's fun, it's light and easy to carry for its thickness, and I just like the look of it. A bit big for some situations, so I don't ALWAYS carry it. The Sebbie, ah, the Sebbie. It's my THIRD small sebbie. I went through two Insingos, one with a CF scale. It was nice, but too pretty. This is perfect for anywhere, and it's an all-silver-hardware one, so it works with the color scheme.
Maxmadco: Best Pen Ever. Not on me every day at home, but when work starts up, it is ALWAYS in my breast pocket.
HDS Rotary: OK, no pocket clip. If I was gonna be a pocket-carrier only, this would be a deal-breaker, and I'd stick with an HDS clicky. but, since I have a Skinth incoming, it's worth it. This is honestly the best light made IMO. Does anything you need it to and does it easy. It's toatally programmable and smarter than my computer, but I could hand it to anyone and that person could use it in any situation thanks to the rotary option.

Gus, please explain to my simple mind why in the fuck you would buy that ugly ass Atwood? Are you going to seriously tell me you are going to use that thing? In public? It reminds me of the humpback in 300. It should have been killed at birth.
Pens okay.

I honestly think it looks cool... I am aware the mini tools are silly. But, I bought it from Peter, so I could always get back what I paid in a heartbeat. Just kinda wanted it.
