It is a serious project, in terms of us wanting a place to go where we had more freedom to act and discuss what we wanted. We get off on long derailments, yes, but we return to topic eventually, too.
The forum where we all met seemed to decide, suddenly, that they were going to crackdown on everything that wasn't directly and strictly related to EDC. In doing this, they seemed to have not considered the social interaction aspect that needs to be a part of every forum.
It's a measure of the environment here that we have a couple of "banned" references right in the smilies, and we all toss them about quite casually. But referring to the forum we came from, by name, is considered rude...
I "know" most of the guys here already from where-must-not-be-named including Quix and Corny. Even noticed something had to have been amiss following the little "there and back again" episode in Corny's thread where-must-not-be-named before it got cleaned up.
Board policy is not always easy, I administered one with more than 100.000 members for several years, mainly hardware, software and cultural subs. 5 admins and nearly 100 mods to keep it all running, turning into a full time job the fun is quickly lost.

This!
Corny and I had a PM discussion, back when things started to go bad. Being a mod can screw your perspective up real quick, and the bigger the forum, the easier it is to get to where you only see the bad stuff, and turn into a Gestapo: "Locked!" "Banned!" "Schultz!"
Coming from where we did, and seeing the debacle that resulted when the mods got their stormtrooper on, I think we have a good chance of keeping that from happening.
