I coined the phrase, but it's been around for a long time.
It evolved as much out of what I don't like, as what I do.
I don't wear sneakers often, or sandals. I wear boots.
Blue jeans, of course. Khaki cargo shorts in the summer. I don't like polyester, so the label needs to say "100% cotton".
T-shirts of course, but lately I've been adding darker blue button-downs, and rolling the sleeves.
As I see it, Tradesman Formal is that area between full-on work clothes, and something for the office. Many of the elements were familiar to people who served in WWII, but aren't much seen anymore.
At it's best, it's a fusion between the two: clothing that is comfortable and practical, for work, with clean, understated lines borrowed from more formal wear.
So, do you dress Tradesman Formal, but you never realized it before?

Starting from the bottom up.. Danner RAT's Wrangler OD Riggs Flannel or other button up long sleeve shirt. Luminox and PC bracelet. And Either a Wilson Combat or Poulin Grain RealTree hat.
During the winter either a Columbia Summit jacket or my Fleece Agri-Mark vest.
