Bought some magnum side zip boots (because I'm lazy) 4 years ago when I switched jobs. Last year I bought a new pair (same but with composite plate and toe) but the old ones are still going strong as my "off duty" pair. So comfortable, light and warm. (And smelly now).

Since reaching middle age, I've started to make some changes in the wardrobe, to look a little more "grown up" whatever the hell that means, these days.
One of the subtle, but important changes, was to find some better boots.
It didn't take too long to settle on a pair of Chippewas:

It's been getting more important to me to find USA-made products, but, at the same time, I'm not the sort to go around waving a flag and shouting "Buy American!".
Vibram soles. The tread pattern is one of those details I was looking for.

The look I'm going for, if I'm going for a look at all, might be called "tradesman formal". I'm still the guy other people call to help them move, or dig a hole, but it's a subtle difference in details.
