I go from not buying any knives for like 2 months to a swarm of expensive knife purchases! I guess I should sell some now to recoup some of the costs. I have a Spyderco caly3 Superblue, Brs AlphaBeast, and a hinderer Xm-18 3" non-flipper Slicer on the way.

I don't buy expensive knives... And I consider £30 expensive :P I do make my own knives though, but I've yet to finish one :quix: need to buy some D2 steel, £40 for two 4" full tang knives, not bad :)

After handling one at the gun & knife show today, ZT0560. Ooh, that just fit the bill in terms of fit in the hand, and ultra-smooth flipper action. Nice weight, nice balance. That's probably going to get me motivated to liberate a few from the drawer... hmmm.
I have an important knife purchace soon but as of yet undecided I'm joining the army very soon and need a decent tough pocket knife to come with me :sak:

Most of the time, they won't let you bring your own to Basic, so you have some time to think.
Benchmades and the RAT-1 are carried by a lot of soldiers.
For many, the knife on a Leatherman does what they need it to do. A lot of soldiers do not carry a dedicated knife, because they don't want to add more to the 36 kilos they're already carrying.
Any knife you buy should be evaluated on the basis of: "Can I afford to lose it/break it/have it stolen?".
I think my next knife is going to be an Emerson. Probably an a100 or a mini a 100. I got to handle almost two dozen different Emerson knives yesterday. I have you say, they are even more impressive in person then in pics

im kind of torn between my next purchase being an emerson commander or a spyderco military. then if its a military im torn between regular or ti
obviously a regular old mili is the cheapest of the choices

All of those are a little big for my taste, but also all great knives. I think I handled 2 commanders yesterday one was a remake of the 98 and the other was a full custom. I love the blade profile. Not only looks bad ass but super useful too. Eventually I want a mini commander and it's the only knife I would even consider getting a combo edge on
