I have not been gentle with this knife and my personal experience has been great. I haven't owned a lot of fixed blades, so I can't speak on experience with any others.
Nutnfancy is long winded but does have some good YouTube videos testing fixed blades in the woods for processing wood.

I had a BK2 for a while sitting at my place and I hated it. Thick, heavy, factory edge was like a butter knife. Then I had a BK5. Good lord I loved that blade. It made me wanna buy watermelons to shank, Lynn Thompson style.
