Well, I just asked Soulriot over on EDCF what will happen to my threads when I discontinue my Craftsman status.
Also since I didn't hear back from him regarding the inquiry on the rules enforcement changes, I may have overstepped my bounds in saying we've moved on. Apologies if we haven't.
Hey Bill,
Quick question for you regarding Craftsman status. I've recently seen there was a price increase with the Craftsman badge to $10/ month. What happens to the threads in the Craftsman section if I decide to discontinue my Craftsman status?
For me I guess it's more of a principle thing. $120 is double the price of the other forums. I can understand $60 since that seems to be the standard, but as much as I'd hate to stop being a Craftsman, I kind of feel like Craftsmen are being pushed away. Some of that is due to PM's I've had with Jon and now with the price change I'm losing the feeling that this place is home.
I was curious if I should save my thread for posterity. It has a lot of sentimental value to me believe it or not. I got my start here and the members of this forum were really supportive so I'd like to keep that even though I wouldn't be able to sell.
Also, unrelated, but the majority of the member's that have had issues with the forum's recent rules enforcement have moved on. Thanks for listening.

You know, i was already getting annoyed with the place before any of these changes happened.....i didnt even know until i came back like TODAY about any of this stuff. Not that it matters to anyone, but I personally am ready to move on
especially considering that is seems virtually all of my favorite posters are already posting here..........i dont see whats holding me to EDCF besides member count and pretty format

Here's the reply.
I think the $10 price has been there for a while, but to answer your question we move the threads to the feedback section and lock them. And to answer a little of your second question the word and facts threads are either in a new volume or reopened due to an error. Q's thread was closed by Dr. J and he posted the reason why. As far as the giveaways, the original reason that we started requiring people to contact us first to coordinate them. People were complaining that different projects were happening at the same time. We made sure only one at a time happened. Later it was realized that there were motives behind some of them while others were just nice gestures. It seemed like different groups in the forum were trying to compete with each other for exposure while others were just trying to do something nice. We did let people do these things but we took a look at it first and if it seemed OK we made sure no one else had something going on at the same time. The vast majority got approved. Right now we are just waiting a little bit till the rules are reworked and published. As far a SAKp, he's only really enforced hotlinking and BST issues so I'm not sure why people are upset.
My reply:
Thanks for the fast reply. It's nice to know the thread doesn't get destroyed. Is it possible to move the Carving thread to the DIY section so I could continue showing work or would that be a conflict?
Regaring SAK and the rules, from a forum member perspective (and speaking frankly, I'm not really interested in the forum store or the shilling behavior) everything happened at once with no real explanation.
People who IMO were in good standing were dropping off. The troublemaker badges disappeared, threads began to get closed/locked for no apparent reason, and the mood changed. You had to watch what you said, Q's thread, while not on point all the time, was a fun and IMO harmless thread. There was a lot of participation and while not all of it had to do with Q's EDC gear, as far as I know, there were no complaints or issues. Then it gets closed.
I think I noticed it late, but there was a certain freedom associated with this board that was missing at other forums. It made this place special.
I just can't help but feel a brief explanation of why things were happening could have helped. Instead from my POV only, things changed. Like it was handed over to a Drill Sargent.
I really appreciate you taking the time to listen. I don't mean to sound like I'm whining, but I wasn't the only one and when it came to my attention there were several unhappy members, I thought I'd reach out to you so you were aware.
