When I open anything it sounds really gritty, but not sure how to clean it out (on the SAKs) Im trying to clean these up so I can decide if I want to keep them or try to sell to fund other purchases. The Alox is def getting kept, I really do like it! Carried it today actually
I had one that did that too. If you have access to an air compressor, hit it with the air. I use mineral oil to lube my knives because I'm a cheap bastard. Works wonders.

Ive had a few people mention mineral oil (posted on a local gun forum), so I'll look into that Where to buy it locally? (hardware stores? grocery stores? etc)

I got mine at CVS. Super cheap and food safe.

I always read things too late. If your SAK is gritty when opening, dunk it (with open or half-open tools) in a container filled with hot water and dishsoap - any other liquid soap will work. Leave it as is for a few hours so all the gunk can be peeled off. Take it out, and if there's any other noticeable dirt, clean with a q-tip and a toothpick. If necessary, repeat the process.
NOTE: do NOT do this with regular cellidor SAKs, only alox. If you dunk cellidor SAKs in hot water, the scales will get loose and separate from the SAK.
Now try opening and closing the tools a few times. It should be getting a bit looser. Now take some WD-40 and spray it in the backside of the springs. Open all tools a dozen times. Now rinse again with warm water. When SAK is dry, apply some mineral oil. If the tools are grittier after applying oil, it means that it's not thick enough.
You can use all this with cellidor SAKs too, just use very warm water
